Wiley Publication Approval: Innovative Hydrogel Research by the Polydengels Team

We are delighted to announce that Şeyma Nur KİRMİÇ COŞGUN, Eren AKDENİZ, and Alime SARIKAYA, dedicated researchers from the Polydengels team, have received official publication approval from the Wiley journal Starch – Stärke for their latest scientific article titled:

“Neutral-Condition Synthesis of Gelatin-Enhanced Starch Hydrogels: Balancing Mechanical Integrity and Biocompatibility.”

The article presents a novel approach to the synthesis of gelatin-modified starch hydrogels under neutral conditions, achieving an optimal balance between mechanical strength and biocompatibility — a critical challenge in the design of biomedical materials.

This work is the result of an inspiring collaboration guided by Prof. Dr. Deniz CEYLAN as academic mentor.

Celebrating the Achievements of Our Undergraduate Team Members at 14th May Pharmacy Day!

We are thrilled to announce that three outstanding undergraduate members of the Polydengels research group were honored with certificates of achievement on the 14th May Pharmacy Day by Bezmialem University Faculty of Pharmacy.

Şevvalnur ÖZBAY was recognized for her valuable contributions to a university-funded BAP research project, Eren AKDENİZ received a certificate for successfully securing approval for his first scientific publication, and Tuğçe BAYAT was awarded for earning support under the TÜBİTAK 1812 Investor-Based Entrepreneurship Program (BiGG). Additionally, our former group member Burak Aydın also took his place on stage as part of the Graduated Talks.

Proud Moment for the Polydengels Team at ORPHEUS 2025!

We are delighted to share that Şeyma Nur Kırmıç Coşgun, a PhD student in biotechnology and a valued member of the Polydengels research group, has achieved significant recognition at the ORPHEUS 2025 Conference held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

She was awarded the prestigious Orpheus PhD Travel Reward and was invited to deliver an oral presentation, representing our group and sharing her high-impact research with the international scientific community.

As the Polydengels team, we take great pride in this achievement and extend our warmest congratulations to Şeyma. Her dedication and excellence continue to inspire us all.

Participation in International Day of Women and Girls in Science Event!

Our team members Hüsna Kılıç, Şeyma Nur Kirmiç Coşgun, and Alime Sarıkaya, accompanied by our advisor Prof. Dr. Deniz Ceylan, attended the breakfast event organized by Bezmialem Vakif University in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Publication Success in Journal of Materials Chemistry B!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hüsna KILIÇ, a valued member of the POLYDENGELS team, has received publication approval in the prestigious Journal of Materials Chemistry B (Impact Factor: 6.1), a Q1-ranked journal. Her article, titled “Multi-Responsive Shape Memory and Self-Healing Hydrogels with Gold and Silver Nanoparticles,” highlights innovative advancements in hydrogel technology.

IUPAC MACRO 50th World Polymer Congress

The IUPAC MACRO 50th World Polymer Congress, held in Warwick, England on July 1-4, 2024, brought together leading scientists and researchers worldwide. Tuana Seray Yildirim and Seyma Nur Kirmic Cosgun participated in the congress with poster presentations.

Tuana Seray Yildirim, in her poster titled “Viscoelastic System Containing Nano-Structured Carriers”, explained in detail the potential applications of viscoelastic systems containing nanostructured carriers and her related studies. Seyma Nur Kirmic Cosgun, in her poster titled “Starch-PVP/Starch-Gelatin-PVP Hydrogels via Graft Copolymerization”, presented her research on the development and characterization of starch-based hydrogels.

We congratulate Tuana Seray Yildirim and Seyma Nur Kirmic Cosgun for their participation and presentation at this prestigious event and wish them success in their future works.

IX. Polymer Science and Technology Congress!

As Polydengels group, we participated in IX. Polymer Science and Technology Congress which was held with international participation. Important presentations were made by our group at the congress.

Prof. Dr. Deniz CEYLAN made an oral presentation titled “Enhancing Properties and Diverse Applications of Starch Hydrogels”. In addition, PhD students Seyma Nur KIRMIC COSGUN presented their studies titled “Supramolecular Hydrogels Crosslinked with Cyclodextrin”, Alime SARIKAYA ”Characteristic Properties of Hydrogels Synthesis with Photoinitiators” and Hakan AVCI presented their studies titled “Intratumoral Injection of Novel Drug-Loaded Starch Spheres into Pancreatic Cancer (PDAC) Tissue” as posters.

This event provided the opportunity to share our research on an international platform and exchange information with other experts in our field. We are proud to showcase the scientific contributions of Polydengels group once again with our participation and presentations.
